Clare MacKay (she/her), Principal and Senior Consultant

Clare MacKay (she/her) is an award-winning, collaborative and engaging community builder and disruptor with over 30 years of experience in senior leadership roles. She has in-depth experience in community building, strategic planning, marketing and communications, community engagement and placemaking.

She has been a senior community leader, most recently as the Chief Communities Officer for The Forks North Portage Partnership (TFNP) in Winnipeg. Prior roles for TFNP, the city’s number one tourist destination and community development corporation, included Executive Director, The Forks Foundation, Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and Vice President, Marketing and Communications. She has also held positions with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, IQON Financial, Western Economic Diversification (now PrairiesCan) and Clark Communications.

Throughout her career, she has worked alongside many stakeholders, shareholders, rightsholders, Boards, governments, media, agencies, and community leaders to deliver impactful programs, share expertise, and a create a community sense of belonging.

She was named ‘Communicator of the Year’ by the Canadian Public Relations Society, conceived a Guinness world record for the longest skating trail in the world, resulting in millions of earned media coverage, and has won several advertising awards.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba, a public relations diploma from Red River College and participates in leadership programs with ICD and Rotman. She is completing a certificate in Leadership in Community Engagement from Toronto Metropolitan University. She is a lifelong volunteer who has lent her to talents to dozens of Boards and organizations.

MacKay is a settler in Canada, with dual British citizenship, who has made Winnipeg home.
